I am a first time mummy to a much wanted baby daughter, who is now 10 months old. I gave birth to my baby when I was 37 and 1/2 years old, so some may say I’m an older mum. But for me she came into my life at exactly the right time for me an my partner. Up until becoming a mummy I had lead a carefree and selfish life, which I enjoyed a lot. But would I swap back to my old life? No way at all.

I have learned so much in the last 2 years, from trying to get pregnant (it took us 11 months) to being pregnant (the hormones are insane) and then being a mummy (clueless at times).

The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is not to compare myself or my baby with anyone else. I was looking far too much on social media and at times was driving me insane.

We are all on different paths and the only thing I should be focusing on is that I am doing the best for my baby that I can.

“The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is not to compare myself or my baby with anyone else”
It’s only in the past 4 months I’ve realised this and I feel so much more happier and relaxed about things.

Also being positive towards other new parents or parents to be is a must. When I was pregnant I found I was given a lot of negative tales and advice from people about babies and at times it filled me with fear. For some reason people love to focus on negativity. Why, I do not know?

But I have found most of the things I was told to be not true at all.

As new mums or parents of a few years, we should all support each other and cheer one another on. As, let’s face it, being a parent is one of the hardest jobs in the world and we don’t even get paid for it! But the love amd joy we get from our little ones is the biggest reward of all, and it’s priceless.

Here’s to all of us doing our very best for our children.
